Privacy Policy
How GreenTechReview collects, uses, and protects your personal data. This policy complies with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Irish Data Protection Acts 2018.
Last updated: April 2026
In plain language:
- We collect basic contact info (name, email) only when you fill in a form
- We use it to respond to your query or connect you with solar installers — nothing else
- We never sell your data to third parties
- Some links are affiliate links — we may earn a small commission at no cost to you
- We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used (anonymised data only)
- Your data is protected under GDPR and Irish data protection law
- You can request access to or deletion of your data at any time
1. Who We Are
GreenTechReview.com is an independent Irish website providing solar energy tools, guides, and installer comparison services for homeowners in Ireland. The site is operated from Dublin, Ireland.
For data protection purposes, GreenTechReview is the data controller. If you have any questions about how your data is handled, contact us at contact@greentechreview.com.
2. What Data We Collect
We collect personal data only when you voluntarily provide it through our website. This includes:
- Contact form submissions: name, email address, and your message
- Solar quote requests: name, email, phone number (optional), Eircode (optional), and any details you provide about your home or energy needs
- Tool usage data: information you enter into our solar decision tool (county, system size, roof details) — this is processed locally in your browser and is not stored on our servers unless you submit a quote request
We do not collect sensitive personal data such as financial information, health data, or government ID numbers.
3. How We Use Your Data
We use the personal data you provide for the following purposes:
- To respond to your enquiry via the contact form
- To connect you with SEAI-registered solar installers when you request a quote
- To include your tool results (county, system size, estimated savings) with your quote request so installers can provide accurate pricing
We process your data on the legal basis of consent (you actively submit a form) and legitimate interest (providing the service you requested).
4. Who We Share Your Data With
When you request a solar quote, we share your contact details and tool results with up to 3 SEAI-registered solar installers so they can provide you with a quote. We only share your data with installers you have consented to be contacted by via the quote form.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data with any other third parties.
We use the following third-party services which may process data on our behalf:
- SiteGround — website hosting (servers in EU)
- Fluent Forms — form processing (data stored on our server)
- FluentSMTP — email delivery for form notifications
- Google Analytics — anonymised website usage tracking (see Cookies section)
5. Cookies and Analytics
We use cookies and similar technologies to understand how visitors use our website. Specifically:
- Essential cookies: required for the website to function (e.g., form submissions, session management)
- Analytics cookies: Google Analytics collects anonymised data about page views, time on site, and traffic sources. IP addresses are anonymised. No personally identifiable information is shared with Google.
You can manage or disable cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies will not affect the core functionality of the website or our solar tools.
6. Affiliate Links
Some links on this website are affiliate links. If you click on an affiliate link and make a purchase or request a service, we may earn a small commission at no additional cost to you. Affiliate relationships include Amazon UK Associates and selected solar-related services.
Affiliate links are always marked with rel="nofollow sponsored". We only link to products and services we believe offer genuine value to Irish homeowners. Affiliate partnerships never influence our editorial content or tool calculations.
7. Data Retention
Contact form submissions and quote requests are retained for up to 12 months, after which they are deleted unless there is an ongoing relationship or legal requirement to retain them. Analytics data is retained in anonymised form for up to 26 months (Google Analytics default).
8. Your Rights Under GDPR
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (EU 2016/679) as applied in Ireland through the Data Protection Acts 2018, you have the following rights:
- Right of access: request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Right to rectification: request correction of inaccurate data
- Right to erasure: request deletion of your personal data
- Right to restrict processing: request that we limit how we use your data
- Right to data portability: request your data in a structured, machine-readable format
- Right to object: object to processing based on legitimate interest
- Right to withdraw consent: withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at contact@greentechreview.com. We will respond within 30 days as required by law.
If you are unsatisfied with how we handle your data, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Commission (DPC), Ireland’s independent supervisory authority for GDPR:
